Automated Parts Counting Solutions

SPEDE automated parts counting solutions can interface to PLCs, weigh scales, vision, cameras, conveyors and touchscreen PCs to validate and count parts, divert defective or incorrect parts before packing, and automatically trigger a container label when the pack count is reached. 

Part validation ensures the part is correct and that only "good" parts are counted toward a pack count; defective or incorrect parts can be automatically diverted with the conveyor interface option. 

Serialized Parts Counting Solutions:

   Using PLCs to Count Parts 

• SPEDE reads part serial number and PLC part number addresses from PLC; validates it to current part; increments piece count for each valid serial number
• Controls piece counts at start/ and end of run
• Controls partial packs & counts at end of run, end of shift
• Collects PLC data for part traceability, operator accountability, OEE analysis 
• Can display real-time production data on lineside touchscreen

   Using Fixed or Handheld Scanners for Parts Counting

• Scan 2D code on Part containing Part number/ identifier and unique serial number; SPEDE validates for correctness; increments piece count if correct

   Using Hi-Res Cameras to Count Parts

• SPEDE controls camera(s) which take snapshot of part 
• Creates SQL record with image, part serial number, date, time, etc. for count, queries, traceability
• Can be a full-container photo by container serial number, with one or more layers

   Using Vision Sensors with Conveyor /Diverter

• No machine PLC needed; can be installed at end of production, in pack /re-pack areas
• SPEDE-provided PLC controls/panel box 
• SPEDE touchscreen controls conveyor for start/stop/reset 
• Keyence vision sensor(s) validate passing part; read serial number
• Pneumatic diverter for good/ bad parts 
• Vision fail = bad part; part is diverted
• Good parts diverted by pack count 

Non-Serialized Parts Counting Solutions:

   Simple PLC Parts Counting

• SPEDE reads “COUNT” of non-serialized part
• Optional onscreen button displays Plus/Minus/Scrap  

   Using Weigh Scales to Count Parts

• Scale can be connected via RS-232 or TCP/IP 
• Part level piece weight, layer count, total pieces 
• SPEDE calculates Tare weight; records net weight

   Using Weigh Scales + Vision to Count Parts

• Keyence Vision Sensor is controlled by SPEDE
• Part must pass vision sensor for validation; then to weigh scale for count

   Using Vision for Parts Counting

• SPEDE controls Keyence vision sensor(s) 
• Sensors are triggered by external object sensor 
• A "good" part increments the count 
• Optional onscreen minus function can be supervisor-only   

   Using Vision + Conveyor Controls
