USB Camera Solutions to Control Packing

The SPEDE Camera Solution interfaces to small, inexpensive USB cameras to control and error-proof the processes of part validation, counting, and packing of containers and dunnage. 

Highlights: 

1. Cameras can be used if packing is performed at production lines, and can integrate with Mitsubishi and Koyo PLCs
2. Can be used at Pack /Re-pack stations where no PLC is present to count the parts
3. Camera captures an image of part being packed  
4. SPEDE Vision logic compares image to master image; shunts incorrect part downstream
5. Can also use Color Detection to validate parts
6. Increments the "good" part count toward the pack count 
7. Can control the packing sequence of dunnage layers 
8. Validates each slot of dunnage layer is filled correctly before the next layer can begin
9. Takes a photo of the completed layer
10. Video offers proof that packing requirements were met for each layer in case of inquiry 
11. When pack count is met and container is correct, SPEDE triggers a label to print 

Other SPEDE Camera options include:

1. OCR - Optical Character Reading of text and characters on parts and labels. 
2. Barcode reading - most 1D, 2D symbologies are supported. 
3. No need for external sensors; SPEDE can detect motion, then engage Barcode or OCR logic on a stable image

• Multiple cameras can be used to capture multiple angles without excessive incremental costs 
• 1080p cameras at 16:9 aspect provide much greater field of view
• USB Cameras have no intelligence, so no programming or configuration of the camera is needed
• Cameras simply capture an image for SPEDE Vision logic to analyze
• All image processing is performed on a PC workstation connected to the camera(s) 
• Camera can be “trained” to recognize a part at your desktop PC –
  No need to perform this task at the line 
• No local master image files to maintain; any SPEDE line can use the same master images 
• Cameras can be easily swapped out by maintenance
