Detailed traceability records of all internally-produced and vendor-supplied parts and components that go into an End Item are created automatically,
by scanning transactions at various steps of the manufacturing process.
The SPEDE Component / Parts Traceability solution links all the lots and/or serial numbers of all component parts used in the production of an End Item.
Simple Inquiries of the SPEDE database will provide:
- Traceability by part, lot, container, line, run date, etc.
- Forward traceability from production to all linked serialized containers of finished parts
- Backward traceability from production to all linked serialized components from suppliers and/or internally produced components
Instant Access to Real-time Part History Data enables:
- Quality control at a granular level
- Application of QC holds when quality issues are detected
- Limiting the scope of recalls to a specific range of serial numbers
- Risk mitigation if vendor-supplied parts contributed to a quality issue
- Monitoring of machine performance, operating efficiencies, and operator accountability
Component traceability begins by using a Handheld or Vehicle Mount Scanner to:
1. Create a SPEDE Bill of Material -
- By WIP or Finished Goods part number
- List of components and purchased items per part
- List of produced parts and components used at each operation
- Quantity used per operation
- SPEDE verifies the correct parts are used at each operation
2. Scan to Receive Raw / Purchased Components
- Use vendor supplied labels
- Optionally print SPEDE labels by unit of measure issued
- Non-serialized components can track by Lot
- Serialized components can track by Each
3. Scan to Issue Components to Line / Operation
- Part Number /Line / Operation validation
- Single/ Multi-part lines
- Issue to Run
- Issue to Date /Time
- Scan component attributes - part number, vendor lot, etc.
- Component part is validated to Bill of Material / Line
4. Scan Optional Return to Stock
- Return to Stock unused quantities
- Unused
- To be reissued
- Use prior serial number or generate new
5. Tracking Components
- SPEDE stores the finished part Bill of Material
- Lot codes per component
- Component lots are tied to the Container serial number
- Inquire by component part/ lot to see Containers
- Inquire by Container serial number to see component lots
